What makes our office unique? Our facility is certified by the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO) to provide General Anesthesia services. Woodbridge Kids Dentistry is a complete pediatric dental specialty care facility, that includes, an operating room, dental treatment operatories and a surgical recovery room for post-operative patients. This clinic provides the services of a medical anesthetist for the purpose of deep sedation and/or general anesthesia to patients. We are proud to share our facility with other dental specialists (endodontics/root canal treatment and oral surgery). We are therefore able to incorporate multidisciplinary dental specialties to minimize the number of appointments or general anesthesia needs. Is it safe? Pediatric Care Asleep is exceptionally safe. In fact the safety of Pediatric Care Asleep is comparable to having the procedure performed at a hospital. Our staff is a collective group of Pediatric Dentist, Medical Anesthetist, Nurses, Chairside Dental Assistants and Receptionists who help facilitate treatment to the patients. Our staff of caring and qualified professionals are dedicated to providing optimal care before, during and after your child’s procedure. This is how we maintain the comfort and safety of your child. What will happen at the consultation appointment? At the consultation appointment we will assess your child’s needs and obtain details from you about their general health, medical and dental history. Our treatment coordinator will discuss your child's treatment plan and discuss sedation/general anesthesia options. We will discuss pre-operative protocols. Please feel free to ask any questions. We will provide an estimate for the cost of your child’s treatment and prepare the appropriate insurance forms. What is required to prepare for Pediatric Care Asleep? You will be given a general anesthesia (GA) package that includes a pre-operatively check list that you MUST follow. In particular, your child must not eat or drink anything for eight hours prior to treatment. Afterwards, most children are feeling and playing normally after approximately 6-8 hours. Detailed information will be given to you at your first visit. If your child becomes ill (fever, infection, etc) before their surgery date, please inform us in case we need to reschedule the surgery date. A short, post-operative appointment will be booked 1 week after surgery please fell free to ask questions at any of these appointments. What is the cost of Pediatric Care Asleep? The cost of Pediatric Care Asleep depends on how long your child’s treatment takes and the type of dental treatment required. Many insurance plans reimburse a portion of the costs associated with this kind of dental care. What will the insurance cover? At the consultation appointment, the office will submit an estimate electronically or if not possible, by mail to your insurance company. The insurance company will get back to the subscriber (you) by mail with an explanation of benefits with regards to coverage for treatment. It usually takes 4-6 weeks to get a response by the insurance company. Our office may not receive the explanation of benefits. Please feel free to contact us to assist you in understanding your child's dental coverage. What is the payment policy? A nonrefundable deposit of $250 is required in order to secure an appointment for your child. This deposit will be applied towards dental treatment. One week before your child's surgery appointment, all treatment must be paid (payment balance based on treatment estimate) iin full prior to the surgery appointment. The treatment plan is an estimate only and in several cases, this estimate is based on clinical examination only. If more treatment is required at the time of surgery an additional fee amount will be billed. In this case, you will be responsible for the difference the day of surgery. If treatment is less then the estimate, we will refund the difference promptly. Our staff will work with you in coordinating your insurance benefits. |
